About Me

Hello, I'm Nancy, and I've been blogging here since March 2013.

I was born and raised in Saskatchewan, on the Canadian prairies, and no matter where I go, it will always be home.

I love travel, and have spent time in Europe and Africa. The most life-changing travel experience I've had was my month in Liberia, West Africa where I volunteered as a dental assistant with Mercy Ships. My experiences there changed the course of my life and I came home from Africa and decided to go back to school to become a nurse.

I moved to Alberta where I spent the next 4 years in nursing school. During university I met my husband (online!) and we were married in 2008.

We were blessed to welcome our first baby, a beautiful little girl, in January 2013. Being a mom is the most incredible experience of my life and has changed me in so many (amazing) ways.

I started this blog as a way to document our daughter's life and to keep our families and friends updated. It's become an outlet for me and allows me to express some of the things that are on my mind. I've never been a very verbal person, and have always found it much easier to express myself through writing, so blogging seemed to be a natural fit. It's turned into a hobby that I really enjoy, and has opened doors to new friendships that I otherwise wouldn't have made.

My hope is that this will be a place where others (moms especially) can find something that speaks to them and will go away from here encouraged on their parenting journey.

  6. Hi Nancy!
I found your blog via RamblingMomma's blog and the Cara box package. I have read a couple of your posts and thought I would add a little about myself here. I live in Ontario and have been married for 22 years. I am a Mom to an 18 1/2 year old son and I can relate to a couple of your posts about raising your daughter - like "When I'm a parent I won't do that", yeah that is how I was as well. Our son slept in our bed and I had to supplement his feeds as well - both things I didn't think I would ever do. Oh how I wish I had known about sign language! 16-18 months are times I will never forget - his frustration with trying to communicate his needs and not having the verbal skills to go with it. Nice reading your blog and I think my email address is open.
