Cutest Little Creature on the Block!

The little creature is tuckered out from a morning of crawling around like a zebra...so while she sleeps I thought I'd take a minute and share some photos of Tessa's first Halloween!

It's pretty blustery here today, so I'm not sure if we'll be heading out this evening. The mall here offers indoor trick or treating this afternoon, so if she wakes up in time, we might head over there. Part of me would feel a little guilty trick or treating with a 9 month old, though, since it's clear that her dad and I will be eating all the candy!!

Our Funny Girl

Right from the beginning, Tessa has been such a happy baby. So many people commented on how smiley she was at a very young age (and still is). She hardly ever makes strange and it usually only takes a few seconds for her to warm up and break out into a huge grin with complete strangers.

This girl makes us so happy. We laugh at something she does almost every day. Now that she's getting older, her funny little personality is starting to show and we think she's going to be quite the goofball.

Silly lopsided grin (and almost wink) for the camera for her one-month photo shoot.

I love how she looks like she's throwing back her head and having a good belly laugh.

I had to throw this one in here - makes me laugh every time.

Who, me??

Relaxing after a big lunch.

I can't wait for the day she discovers I put this photo of her online.

She recently started making this fish face when eating. It's usually followed by some lip smacking. We think it means she's enjoying whatever she's eating. That or she's trying to figure out how to kiss.

This is the face she makes right before she giggles.

Love the big, cheesy, drooly grin.

Such a character!

Tessa, I don't remember what your dad and I did for entertainment before you came along, but whatever it was, it was nowhere near as fun as watching you grow into the little girl you're becoming. You make us laugh constantly with your crazy faces and silly smiles and our days are never dull with you around. You are definitely our goofy little sunshine and we can't imagine life without you in it. We love you so much - don't ever stop being silly!!

"Crunch Time"

This week, I'll be having a conversation with my manager about my return to work. We're working on arrangements for childcare for when I go back. I'm so blessed to live in Canada where we get a full year of maternity leave and it's been such an amazing year and I'm so thankful, but reality is starting to hit me: In a little over 2 months, I'll be back to work.

I feel like each month is going by faster than the one before - I'm still trying to figure out what happened to September, and it's already the second last week of October! I feel like I'll blink and it'll be Christmas and then I'll be back to work. So, with that in mind, I'm really feeling the need to soak up every second I have with Tessa. She's growing and changing so fast, and learning something new almost every day, it seems, and I don't want to miss any of it.

I'm so thankful that I only have to go back to work part-time, so I'll still have lots of time at home with her once I go back, but in some ways I feel like it won't be quite the same. So I've decided that my blog, for now, will be taking the back seat. I'll still be posting, just maybe not as regularly as I have been. I do love blogging and I especially love the community I've found online through blogging, so I don't want to miss out on that, but I'm really feeling like it's "crunch time" on my maternity leave and I want to make the most of it.

So, if you'll excuse me, I have a baby to go play with!
